Father George Mastrantonis Memorial Library
The Father George Mastrantonis Memorial Library, located on the main level of the church at the end of Sunday School rooms houses a collection of more than 1600 titles in English. In addition, the library also houses a large selection of books in Greek.
The first room of the library is the reference room. These books are not available for checkout, but may be perused in the library.
The second room of the library houses the check out collection. Topics are organized according to the Library of Congress catalog system and include mostly nonfiction topics about religion and culture. A computer in this room is available for searching, although library patrons may also simply browse shelves using the topic signs for guidance.
Books in English: The library’s online catalog makes it possible to browse this collection from any digital device. Access the online catalog at https://www.librarycat.org/lib/sngoclibrary.
Books in Greek: These books are not part of the online catalog however, they are still available for check-out.
Instructions are posted about how to use a simple form to check out a book when no one is available in the library to assist.
Book check-out may also be requested by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, listing book titles. Books will be delivered to either the church office or FLC office for pick up at your convenience.
After several years of data entry and reorganization the library is operational, however there is still much work to be done, especially in the reference room, where the work of organizing and shelving books is underway. Preserving our parish’s history and providing a wealth of information to others is something to be proud of.
