Greek Dancers

Traditional Greek dancing has a primarily social function, which is to bring people together.  The St. Nicholas dance program is directed by Georgia Johnson, who was born in Greece.  She invites you to experience the spirit of Greece through traditional and modern dance. The program offers instruction and performance opportunities for children and adults of all ages. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn Greek dances, enjoy Greek music, and experience a wonderful fellowship with other parishioners.

Performances

Our St. Nicholas Greek Dancers consist of dancers of all ages that can be seen showcasing their skills at not only our annual Labor Day Greek Festival, but also at various cultural events during the year.   We can be seen at public libraries, nursing homes, schools and universities. Past performances include:

• Festival of the Nations - for over 26 years

• Ameren Festival

• Holiday at the Plaza - sponsored by Barnes Hospital to benefit children

• St. Louis Zoo

• St. Louis Art Museum

• The Muny

• Various events at Forest Park

• Scott Air Force Base in Illinois

Practice

Dance practices are held either at the Family Life Center or at St. Nicholas Church usually on a Sunday afternoon. Check with Georgia Johnson for exact details.

• May through July - Family Life Center *

• August - St. Nicholas Church

      * No practice on Mother’s Day, Memorial Weekend or Father’s Day
