Application for Academic Scholarship


Every year, the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Community awards UP TO five scholarships to deserving high school graduates and to students who are currently enrolled or pending enrollment in a college, university, or vocational school. The maximum scholarship awarded is $1,500.00 per year dependent on available funds.

Students pursuing the priesthood may be eligible for up to $4,500 per year.

In order to qualify for a scholarship, the applicant must be:

❖ An Orthodox Christian and an active member of the St. Nicholas Community.

❖ A graduate or graduate-to-be of an accredited high school or enrolled or about to be enrolled in a community college, college, university, or vocational school.

The following must also be submitted with this application form:

1) A complete academic transcript.

2) A written statement from the principal, guidance counselor, or academic advisor of the high school, community college, college, university or vocational school providing an appraisal of the candidate’s scholastic achievements, talents, and abilities.

3) Two letters of recommendation from persons not related to the applicant are required. Letters from teachers, professors, or employers are preferred.

4) A cover letter MUST ACCOMPANY the application.

All persons who qualify and wish to apply for this scholarship must submit this completed application form and all supporting documents to the St. Nicholas Scholarship Committee c/o St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 4967 Forest Park Ave., St. Louis, MO 63108, no later than Monday, May 6, 2019. Applications submitted after this date cannot be considered for awards in the current year. Scholarship recipients are notified of their award following approval by the Parish Council.
