Growth & Development

Mission Statement: Commit to a single capital campaign that addresses a two-fold mission of the physical repair and enhancement of St. Nicholas Church and the development of the church’s property on Highway 40. Together, these two facilities will meet both the immediate as well as the long-term needs of our parish community.

Goals

  1. Address needed repairs and updates at St. Nicholas Church where we worship, socialize, and participate in religious activities. It is our beloved spiritual home where we grow closer to Christ.
  2. Undertake the development of a family life center at our Town & Country property. This facility will become a more accessible, six-day-a-week location that will provide a basis for all ministries of the parish. It will serve our youth, become a convenient location for enhanced religious and cultural education, provide for expanded social and athletic opportunities, offer meeting space for fraternal, cultural, and church-based organizations, furnish an administrative home for the church clergy and staff, and include a chapel.

Plan

  • Complete – Assess and prioritize needed repairs and enhancements at St. Nicholas Church to include the HVAC system, elevator, kitchen, lavatories, and the artistic repair of the sanctuary. Estimate and prioritize the costs of such enhancements and repairs, and present them to the parish as part of a capital campaign.
  • Underway – Retain a renowned firm familiar with Orthodox architecture to translate the needs of the parish into a family life center suitable to meet the utilization needs of today and the future. Solicit and incorporate feedback from the parish on such a design. Provide a range of estimated costs to construct the center consistent with an assessment of the parish's ability to fund such a capital campaign. Present the plan to the parish for approval as part of a capital campaign.
