St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival Kick Off

We encourage middle school and high school students to participate in this event, which will be held at Church in March. Students can consult with their teacher, Mark Vleisides, Stavra Ketchmark or Fr. Michael about the guidelines. Students can prepare a speech or other project outlined by the Archdiocese. Parents, please encourage your child to participate. It is an excellent opportunity for faith enrichment, public speaking and scholarships.

Overview:  The St. Nicholas Church School Program consists of classroom instruction on the Orthodox Faith for Pre-School (3 year-olds) through 12th Grade, every Sunday, September through May, immediately following Holy Communion. Seasonal activities include the Christmas Pageant, Souper Bowl Sundays, Icon Processions on the Sunday of Orthodoxy and many other activities.

1st Day of Sunday School is always the second Sunday after Labor Day.

Age and Grade: Children entering the Pre-School class must be at least 3 years old. Grade placement is based upon student’s grade in regular school.

Volunteering: Please be generous with your time and assistance when you register your child. The various activities sponsored by the Sunday School need your help. Plans are being made to implement our prgrams, but your help and involvement is essential. Please consider where you can help and sign up to make your children’s Sunday School experience even better. Working with other parents to a common purpose provides fulfillment and fellowship. Please be sure to review the explanations for the various activities and to complete the volunteer page when you register. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

Attendance: Please make a family commitment to regular Church attendance. Discuss with your children the importance of attending Divine Liturgy on time and taking a vital interest in their spiritual life. Also, it is most important to start the year off with good attendance. This often insures regular attendance for the rest of the year.

Registration: Registration for Sunday School is held April through September. Please complete the form and return to the Church office. The cost is $10 per child if registering in April or May. The cost is $20 per child if registering June through September. This will allows us to set up the classes in time for the first day. Checks should be made payable to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church. Your child must be registered PRIOR to attendance in a Sunday School class.
