Chris Anastas

Christina Anastas is the past president of the St. Nicholas Philoptochos Ladies Society. She has helped to raise over $100,000 towards the Philoptochos' Commitment to the Capital Campaign.

She has also served in and raised funds for the Volunteer Service Council, the Barnes-Jewish Women's Auxiliary Board, Friends of Kids with Cancer, and the Oasis School Program.  The vitae below illustrates the commitment and dedication Ms. Anastas has to the various causes in which she is involved.

 

 

St. Nicholas Philoptochos Ladies Society –

  • President – 2005-2009
  • 1st Vice President – 2003-2005
  • Board Member – 2003-2009
  • Chaired 2005 Metropolis of Chicago Clergy-Laity Conference – St. Louis
  • Chaired/Co-chaired numerous Philoptochos events
  • Created “new” ministries programs – “Pajama Program” and “Shoes for Orphan Souls”
  • Raised $100,000 over a two-year period 2007-2008 towards Philoptochos’ Commitment to the Capital Campaign. 
  • Member of the Festival Committee

National & Metropolis Philoptochos Ladies Society –

  • Appointed to the National Board Ladies Philoptochos Society in 2008 by his Eminence Demetrios, Archbishop of America. 
  • Appointed to the Metropolis Board Ladies Philoptochos Society in 2009 by his Eminence Iakovos, Metropolitan of Chicago.  
     

St. Nicholas Jr. Philoptochos Committee –

Formed the Jr. Philoptochos Committee in 2005 to raise awareness, support, and finances for area non-profit organizations through our Christian concepts and faith while focusing on developing a stronger connection with younger women for the future of Philoptochos.

Co-chaired the following Outreach Projects –

  • Missouri Children’s Burn Camp – Volunteer Service Council raised $27,000
  • Friends of Kids with Cancer – Philoptochos raised $16,000
  • Delta Gamma for Children with Visual Impairments – Philoptochos raised  $18,000
  • Life Skills – Philoptochos raised $13,000
  • Autism Speaks – Philoptochos benefit scheduled for May 16, 2009 at the Frontenac Hilton
  • Philoptochos/IOCC “Hits the Streets” Nationwide HIV/AIDS Walkathon to raise funds to assist in the care of 1.8 million AIDS orphans in Ethiopia and 400 AIDS service organizations in the United States schedule for May 2, 2009

Awards Received – 

  • Best Outreach – received 2nd place in 2004 for Best Outreach at the National Clergy Laity Conference in New York, NY for our Fashion Show/Boutique to benefit Friends of Kids with Cancer.
  • Best Outreach – received 1st place in 2006 for Best Outreach at the National Clergy Laity Conference in Nashville, TN for our Fashion Show/Boutique to benefit Delta Gamma for Children with Visual Impairments.
  • Best Practices – received 2nd place for Best Practices in 2006 at the National Clergy Laity Conference in Nashville, TN for creating a unique successful project that exemplifies the spirit of Philoptochos and that other chapters can replicate across the country – Jr. Philoptochos Committee.

St. Nicholas Capital Campaign Executive Team –

  • Member of Capital Campaign Executive Team to raise funds for the new Town & Country Family Life Center and the Enhancement of St. Nicholas
  • Chaired Ground Blessing Ceremonies
  • Duties – solicit pledges, track pledges, send thank you letters, monitor funds, etc.           

Other Organizations:
2003-2004 – 1st Vice President of Volunteer Service Council – approximately 100 women run this independent service organization with its reputation for launching little known charitable causes in the mainstream of civic concern.
